How I spent 2020-2022 (again)
"Kate," I hear you say. "You showed us the outside of your house and all the wonders of your beautiful Animal Crossing: New Horizons island. But what's inside your house?"
Welp, guess what, I have a lot of time on my hands and the update means I am obsessively cataloguing everything I have so that I can build the perfect Slumber Island Theme Park. So here is my house.
The Main Room

My living room/kitchenette is filled with all the things I need to enjoy a good meal, stay warm, and watch bad TV. I can either sit on the couch or tuck myself under the kotasu, I can enjoy the stereo or the TV, I can make food or I can look at all the trophies I've won. I've got it all in here.
The Oceanic Room

This is where I keep my favourite fish. I bet you can't guess what's immediately behind me — that's right, it's coelacanth time!
(You can see the laptop that's in front of the coelacanth, with a picture of a coelacanth on the screen. That's Coelacanth Mingle. Where coelacanths meet.
No, I will not stop typing coelacanth.
C-O-E-L-A-C-A-N-T-H)
I also have a nautilus, a vampire squid, a piranha, a garden eel, and a few others, all stacked nicely together. And a giant isopod — I freaking love those little dudes.
Everything else is decorated in mermaid and shell-themed furniture.
The Cherry Blossom Bedroom

My bedroom is a mix of cherry blossom and Imperial Chinese. This is also where I keep all the pictures of my villages that I like and who like me.
(My favourite is Marina. I will also fight anyone who tries to badmouth Hamphrey or Muffy.)
The Jungle Bathroom

One part utilities, one part bathroom. I wish I really did have a giant tub with purple lights and a lot of steam. I also wish I had enough room in my house for a chest freezer, which I would probably fill up with plenty of fruit and vegetables and then promptly forget about.
(I'm not great with object permanence, okay? That bag of pineapple in the freezer currently can attest to that.)
The Textiles Workshop

I like all the clothes, okay? I like the hats, I like the masks, I like the headbands, I like collecting them, and I thought a good textiles room would work nicely.
(Those sushi dresses, where there's a seaweed belt and fish on the back? Chef's kiss. 10/10. No notes. I wish I could have them for real.)
Really, I should take them all down and put them into my storage so that I can wear them, but they all look so good on my walls.
And a server. Because you need a server. You always need a server.
The Seance Room

The Seance Room is my favourite place, and I love how I've decorated it.
Did you know that some of the fake art Redd sells you does things at night? The Ancient Statue's eyes glow and when you interact with it, it floats. So, obviously, it is in the Seance Room.
Also, I can never turn down a skeleton. It's not going to happen. I need more skeletons in my life.

Did you also know that if you take a gyroid and put it somewhere that is playing music, it syncs up to the music and adds its sound effect?
You put a bunch of Boomoids and a few Jingloids with KK Dirge and that added bass drum and chimes really make it perfect.
The Seance Room with the Lights On

I do like keeping it in the dark, for atmosphere, but sometimes you need the lights on to actually appreciate everything in there.
(Another tip: Stick the wall candles behind the skeletons and it looks like their heads are on fire. Stick the light-up deely-boopers behind the anatomical figures and it looks like they're wearing them.)

I probably should lose the chandelier, to be honest. It's a bit too bright for the Seance Room. It works so well with just the candlelight and a few glowing items.
The film projector is also great for standing in front of and letting the light shine on you like you're in a bad movie.

And there you go! If you want to see everything yourself, the Dream Address is DA-7733-2633-8863, as you can see from my Animal Crossing Passport.
And if you want to friend me on Nintendo Online, it's SW-1580-5675-3610.
And when I finally finish my theme park, I'll share the Slumber Island code as well. But that's for another lazy day.
